In 2021 we collaborated with Coast2Bay, Sundale & Purpose Partners to launch the Better Together Housing website. The mission of this important project is to address a growing issue in Australia – homelessness of women over 55 years old. This project involved a rationalisation, software vetting & testing, design, development, migration & launch. As new members join the site, we’re hoping this initiative will make an impact into the issue of homelessness for this cohort and improve the lives of members for the better.
Project Testimonial From Fiona Malcolm (Purpose Partners):
Huw from Wrasse Industries is committed, flexible, knowledgeable, very reasonably priced and an all-round pleasure to work with. We came to him with a big challenge and he worked tirelessly to find the right solution for us and our member-based online platform. No question is too silly, or ask too small. An all round professional I would highly recommend Huw for any online platform needs. Five stars *****
Website Design Solution
Website designs generally start with brand & aesthetics and extend into degrees of functionality. It’s important to understand the entirety of requirements at the beginning. We use a thorough process to help our clients understand how a website can best serve their business or organisation. In this situation, the requirements of the project took us into new territory – online membership website software solutions.
The final outcome, delivered by Toucan Tech, includes a public-facing website with a private members area in which participants can communicate with each other and search for a solution to suit their housing needs. There is also a comprehensive member management capability and CRM inclusion, creating a holistic, intrinsically design software aligned to our needs. Supported and planned, Better Together Housing is now ready to evolve into the future.
One of the ways we really help our clients is to rationalise, and develop an understanding of what the project is. In this case, the devil was in the detail (it pretty much always is!) and we mapped out a comprehensive requirement list and came to terms with the relationships and capabilities that were required of the solution. The next stage was to apply this rationalised understanding to potential candidates in a vetting stage.
Vetting (making a careful / critical examination of something) took into account over 15 possible solutions including both standalone and hybrid options. Apart from budgetary considerations, our requirements were specific, down to significant details such as SEO capabilities. Through the vetting process we talked to a number of different companies around the world, making our own evaluation about their culture and ability to support our clients and their members into the future.
Finally, we decided to work with ToucanTech. There were a number of reasons, but in addition to meeting our core project requirements, ToucanTech offer Australian-based data centres and customer service. They also showed a willingness to listen and adapt to suit our needs. After we made the decision to work with ToucanTech, we designed, tested, configured & launched the site.
