What is Qigong?

Qigong is a activity that originates from China. There are a wide variety of qigong practices, with different objectives - for example, martial, spiritual, or wellbeing purposes.

Our Qigong classes are easy to begin and join along. That’s one of the great things about it. They are characterised by standing movements and postures which are slow and mindful. The goal of our classes is to provide a safe space for people to come together and participate in the gentle flow of movement and stillness to reduce stress, become grounded and connect with themselves.

It’s particularly useful in this day and age as an opportunity to step back from the endlessly busy world and create some space for yourself. While qigong is easy enough to join in with, it also represents a life-long journey of discovery as you increase awareness, functionality and meaning through your practice.

Huw Humphreys

I have been studying qigong for about 10 years. My practice is focused on a style called Zhan Zhuang. I consider myself as a student with something to share. I have developed my community course as a gateway into my own understanding of qigong practice - a study of the fundamental movements, breathing, balance, grounding and connection to develop a meaningful practice that is beneficial for managing stress, promoting wellbeing, and creating resilience.

For people who are so inclined, this is the first step towards more advanced and challenging levels of practice.
